For those of you that know me quite well, you probably already know the gist of this story.

But Someone very dear to me, my best friend and my partner at the time was diagnosed with a stage 1 type 2 carcinoma in her breast over a year ago.

However, she ended up with an incredible specialist, Professor Christobel Saunders.

Prof. Saunders took a look and made the call to perform a lumpectomy instead, which

improved her quality of life post OP greatly; and has now made a full recovery. The extracted tumour was scanned by a new piece of equipment being trialled, and the data was collected went towards creating and implementing the new piece of technology that will aid surgeons in removing all affected tissue during the surgery. It's like a mobile CT scan pen, normally during extractions surgeons follow wires that are placed in the breast and are somewhat blind. This means that surgeons will be able to see what they are doing inside live.

I was astounded by the insanely high ratio of women who are diagnosed with breast

cancer each year. And the reason I'm raising funds is so that women in the future have a much

higher success rate, lower risk of metastasis, and a better quality of life post op. If any of the money i raise goes to anything as magnificent as the research project mentioned above,I'll be absolutely over the moon.
