Hello friends and family!

I've created this page because I want to make a difference to the one in eight women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.  I am very aware of Breast Cancer right now, and am way over due for an examination. I have been prompted by the news that my sister has just been diagnosed, and this week starts her treatment, with a Double Masectomy (11/9/17)
 

A Love Heart on my page just doesn't seem to cut it. I want to offer something more practical. Awareness, education, to offer support. It's an emotional time. A shoulder to cry on, a listening ear.
Raising money for Research. I was thinking of shaving my head.  And here it is, my pledge. It will be a big thing for me, as I've always hidden behind my hair. How much is my hair worth?? Who would sponsor me??  I want to raise a minimum of $10,000.  At the half-way point, I would also look into my highest bidder nominating a colour for me to dye my hair.

Currently looking for Sponsors to help with my event.  Further details will be posted, as my plans come to fruition.

I'm inspired by the work that National Breast Cancer Foundation do and want to help them reach their aspirational goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

Please help me help NBCF by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button.  Or even better, we can make this a team effort, and you can come join me by shaving your head also :)  Ask me how....

The more people that know about National Breast Cancer Foundation, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

We should be aware of these things every day, not just today.

Be aware. It can happen to anyone, at anytime. We are prompting women to self-examine, but it also affects many men.
Cancer affects everyone.

UPDATE:  (13/9/17) - My Sister has had her surgery, and although in a little pain and a bit groggy, it all went well.  I cannot wait to go and see her :)

UPDATE:  (10/10/17) - Cash Donations so far, bring my new total to $860.00.....Keep them coming!  :)

UPDATE:  (14/10/17) - New total is $895.00 :)

UPDATE:  (18/10/17) - Today Team Member Tony shaved his head and lost his Mo’ after 30 years.

Next up, my Mum got in the chair, and I thought she just wanted a trim, but surprised me when she asked to have it all off!  GO MUM!!!!

My sister was up next...with 15 months of treatment ahead, including Chemo and Radiation,  she wanted to lose the hair now to save the grief of it falling out.

And me, I really wanted to join in on the Full Shave today, but I have started this mission to raise $10000....So it has to stay until then. I stuck to my word though.  We made it to my first $1000, and I did a partial shave, to show my dedication to the Cause.

It was a great day! I not only got to share in all this excitement, it was also my Sister’s 35th Birthday! So glad I made this trip to be here for her, and it’s a day I will always remember ?? x

New Total is $1060.00....Yay for our first milestone! ?

UPDATE:  (27/11/17) - New Total is $2096.45.  My Sister is well underway with her Chemo.  Had a few little hiccups at the start, with an infection due her port.  But so far, she is doing ok.

We had some great backing from friend Veronica Woodall, and her business 'Ronnie's Partylite - Candles and Smelly Stuff'.  Packs were sold and a percentage of sales + Veronica's donation of her commission, added $400 to our total.  Much appreciated Ronnie!

Last night, we also have a new initiative start.  All donations over $2.00 will go in the Draw to win 5 Dozen Sydney Rock Oysters (unopened) and complete with Shucker Knife.  Courtesy of Elkins Oysters in Forster.  Delivered direct to your doorstep.  This will be drawn on the 15th December 2017.  Would be a great addition to any Christmas Party :)
