Story
The Chris MacKinnon Memorial Weekend is an annual event held to support and raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
On this weekend the TTM National Hockey Centre turns pink to show its support towards the foundation while also paying our respect to those past and present suffering from Breast Cancer. The weekend will showcase all competition grades with a focus towards our Capital League 1 competition and is also accompanied by fundraising events and raffles.
In August 2013, the first Chris MacKinnon Memorial Weekend was held at the National Hockey Centre in Lyneham after the passing of Chris MacKinnon who was a dedicated, well known and loved member of the hockey community. Hockey ACT, with the support of local businesses, sponsors, the community and our hockey members managed to raise over $9,400, with all funds going directly to the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In 2014, we increased on the previous year and raised a total of $12,770. In 2015, with the major contribution of $10,000 from Goulburn Hockey Association, Hockey ACT raised a total of $22,550!!
This year we hope to not only reach but again overtake our previous years total donations.
